McCary’s Chapel UMC Food Pantry

McCary’s Chapel Food Pantry is open each Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  Volunteers from McCary’s Chapel staff the pantry. The pantry has recently been expanded to a larger room with a more convenient waiting area for clients. Food for the pantry is purchased from the East Texas Food Bank in Tyler.  Donations are also received from church members and individuals in the community.  The Liberty City United Fund granted $3,000 to the McCary’s Chapel Food Pantry in 2007. Cash contributions are accepted to help stock the pantry. 

 

Food issued includes rice; dry beans; canned fruits, vegetables, and meats; dry milk; potatoes; peanut butter and jelly; breakfast items; spaghetti and sauce; limited freezer items and fresh produce.  

 

This ministry serves residents in the Liberty City community.  Clients may come to the pantry twice monthly.  Clients are required to show proof of residence and are also requested to fill out an application to provide data needed by the East Texas Food Bank.
